Behind the scenes of a glamour shoot.
Reading time 2 minutes
For this photo shoot wanted to create one specific photo, inspired by the cover of the 1999 film American Beauty. For that, I needed quite a big pile of rose petals.
To get the rose petals, I first looked online, but 24 liters cost around €240,- and I definitely needed twice that amount. Luckily, there turned out to be a rose grower nearby, and they let me pick the petals myself. For free.
It just so happened to be the hottest day of the year too 37 degrees! That’s why I kept the rose heads intact and placed them in water, with the air conditioning running day and night to keep everything as cool as possible. I also covered the windows to let in less light.
Two days before the photo shoot I reached out to the model, but didn’t get a response. It turned out she had written down the wrong date I only found that out on the evening of the shoot. photo shootIn the meantime, the rose petals were already starting to wilt, and I still didn’t have a model.
So I had to find someone last-minute who was available that same day or the next morning. Luckily, Nousje was able to come by the very next morning. en zij heeft de hele shoot gered.
It was a stressful situation and a lot of work picking all the petals by hand, but I’m super happy with the image I was still able to create in the end.
